Understanding meta tags

                                      Meta tag META tags can be used as information snippets to offer search engine users directions for route planning. They are said to be effective tools from a marketing standpoint for destination organizations to persuade visitors of their messages. The use of "description" META tags on websites belonging to destination marketing agencies in the Northeastern US is investigated in this study. This claim is amply supported by a content analysis of these META tags, which also reveals the persuasiveness of these messages.
